I’m Paul, and I built ChatToPDF. It started with a problem I had myself: I needed a clean, readable copy of a long WhatsApp conversation — properly dated, with who said what — to hand to a solicitor for a legal matter. Screenshotting a long thread was impractical, while WhatsApp’s own “Export Chat” produced a text transcript rather than a formatted PDF.
So I wrote something that does the boring part properly: it takes the file WhatsApp gives you and turns the parsed messages into a paginated PDF with the available timestamps and sender names — and, on the relevant tiers, supported photos inline or supported voice notes transcribed. That’s the whole tool.
What ChatToPDF actually does
You export a chat from WhatsApp on your phone, drop the .txt or .zip file into the uploader, and get back a formatted PDF (plus an Excel/CSV version on a paid job). Most supported uploads preview in under 30 seconds; a paid text or image PDF is usually ready within about 90 seconds. On voice tiers, supported .opus files can be transcribed into searchable text and matched back to their attachment references. The principles I run it on
Pay per chat, never a subscription. One payment converts one chat. There’s no account, no login, and nothing renews. If you only need this once, you pay once.
Your chat deserves an honest processing explanation. Files travel over HTTPS and the normal conversion is automated. Source exports, extracted media, and generated downloads are scheduled for deletion at seven days; a job still processing at that boundary can receive up to 24 hours of grace. For chats that should not be uploaded to any server, I also publish a local-only text converter.
No overclaiming. I’m not a lawyer and ChatToPDF doesn’t give legal advice — it produces a readable transformation of the messages present in the supplied export. What it can and can’t do is written plainly, including where transcription and date interpretation require review.
